Dr. Shamsiah Abdul Karim is the Senior Vice President (Shariah and Product Development) of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad. Previously she served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Albukhary Foundation, a private non-profit charitable organisation of the Malaysian tycoon. Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary. She was also the former Deputy Director (Asset Management) of Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura, also known as the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore. She is currently a member of the management committee of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad. Director of Pergas Investment Holdings (PIH). Singapore, and Shariah advisor for Financial Services & Advisory Council (Singapore). A PhD holder from Durham University, her main area of interest is Islamic endowment (waqf), the practical aspects of which she is currently involved in.
